The Product Manager will be initially tasked with managing our Empower product, and related parts of the Mapp Cloud stack. The successful candidate should come from a computer science background, with experience of product management with a SaaS product, but should balance the technical with a keen business sense, and an understanding that our products are mission critical for our customers. The role spans the entire product development lifecycle from ideation to post launch analysis. This is an excellent opportunity to transform the customer experience, become an integral part of our product management team and be a valuable contributor to our future business success.


The role reports to the Senior director of Product Management and works alongside the global Product Management, engineering, and strategy teams, and liaises with the customer facing teams to understand customer needs and to manage communication on priorities.


We are open to different locations, as Mapp has fully embraced remote working. However, this role requires working with a product that is primarily used (but not exclusively) by US-based customers, but with a development team in India. The following locations would be suitable in terms of time zones:


  • Central Europe (Berlin) – this is where most of the Product Management team is situated.
  • US East Coast – has a good overlap with all stakeholders’ time zones.
  • Other locations considered if you can be flexible with attending meetings out of hours.

What you will do:

  • Create and maintain a backlog, working with stakeholders and the engineering team to set priorities.
  • Be the spokesperson for your product and team across the company.
  • Use an iterative methodology to deliver features and improve them based on feedback.
  • Use qualitative and quantitative data to identify product opportunities, predict outcomes, and set hard metrics targets for your proposed product initiatives.
  • Determine the vision, business case and iteration plan for your assigned product categories and take full responsibility for delivery.
  • Drive the analysis and design to help develop product requirements that are technically feasible, innovative, solve the target market problems, and ultimately reflect an optimized implementation approach.
  • In concert with the Strategy and Engineering teams, identify and evaluate 3rd party solutions when determining build, partner or buy solutions.
  • Make presentations to help position new features with customers, and to encourage adoption of existing features.
  • Contribute to the weekly and monthly product roadmap status reports
  • Be a product subject matter expert to all internal and external clients.
  • Provide assistance publishing user education materials and marketing collateral.
  • You must be wiling to have flexible working hours and manage time appropriately – sometimes there will be calls with customers and stakeholders in different time zones, for example the US West Coast.

The assets you bring to the team:

  • 5+ years of product management experience in delivering SaaS products.
  • Experience with primary and secondary research methods, user stories, information architecture, personas, usability, storytelling, prototyping, and project management.
  • Prior experience managing multiple complex projects in an efficient and timely manner in a co-located team environment.
  • Seasoned in Agile development processes is a plus.
  • SaaS product solutions and design.
  • Results-motivated.
  • Self-directed, highly organized, detailed oriented.
  • Excellent written and presenter and negotiator skills.
  • Good communicator and collaborator (working with multiple departments to deliver projects on time).
  • Working knowledge of HTML & CSS with an understanding of JSON, XML, SOAP, RESTful services.
  • A hacker mindset – build something, get it working quickly for the customer, and resolve any issues as they arise.
  • Lifelong learner - openness to learning new tools and technologies.
